Good news for many - the government has watered down plans for the introduction of making tax digital.  It will not be introduced until April 2019 and then only for businesses who have a turnover above the VAT threshold of £85,000. The smallest businesses and landlords will not have to use the system.

Many landlords across the country are now contemplating selling their buy to let properties in view of changes to tax allowances.  If you are considering a sale, contact me if you wish to have an estimate of your Capital Gains Tax liability.

A transfer of a share of the property to your spouse, if applicable, may help to save some Capital Gains Tax.  If there are multiple sales planned, these need to be timed carefully.

It appears that the level of tax free dividends will be cut from the present level of £5,000 to £2,000 in the Autumn statement which is a blow to individuals who trade as companies and investors with a large share portfolio.

Many clients are discovering that they will not receive the maximum state pension. Check your position with the National Insurance helpline on 0345 3000 168.
